She remembered all the flames, all the smoke, and all the women, children, and men that were lost in the attacks on her twin towers. The pain of it all caused her to leave her own state, and go to Pennsylvania, her brother. New York sighed and shook herself out of her thoughts before turning around and leaving her apartment.

It was one of the oldest ones, but she kept it because it had been her home for many, many years. She lived near Ellis Island, which, in her opinion, was the most best place to live because she could see her Statue of Liberty that France gave her. She brushed her dirty blonde hair out of her light green eyes and looked around. She was looking right at the very Statue of Liberty.

A pair of brown-coated arms wrapped around her, pulling her back. "Hey, Alfy, how're ya doing?" She grinned, tilting her head back to look at the country she was a part of. He grinned easily back, and turned her around.

"This hero's been good, so yeah~ How about you, Cassi? Feelin' down or something?" New York sighed to herself, but nodded. America sat down on the edge of a bench and looked at her. "Is it 'cause the twin towers are gone?"

"Yeah, Alfy, it is. They were a huge part of me, but now that they're gone... I've just been feelin' odd. I know they're rebuilding them and all, but they won't be the same twins, ya know?" Alfred nodded and looked out across the water to the distant Statue of Liberty.

"Sure, you're right, but you still have the Lady of Liberty, Cassi! And if you just remember the old twins, then shouldn't it be fine?" Cassi wandered away from Alfred, after that, just wanting to look at the statue Francis gave her. All those people would never live their lives again, and the children wouldn't age past whatever age they died at. She hated it. She wanted them to be alive again.

She sat down on a bench and pulled her legs up to her chest, her chin resting on her knees as she stared solemnly out at the Lady of Liberty. New York pulled her headphones from around her neck to over her ears and drowned out her thoughts and the world around her with Dirty Little Secret by the All American Rejects.

Cassi didn't look up until a group of people surrounded her. She sighed. Probably a group of gang members or something. "Hey, Cass," Pennsylvania's voice sounded in her ear, light and teasing. "Why do you look so down? Alfy came over and told me that you've been kinda depressed! Why's that, hm?"

"Don't tell me it's 'cause of your twin towers? They're bein' rebuilt!" California grinned at New York, her green eyes cheerful. "So cheer up, Cassi!" The dark haired brunette grinned, ruffling Cassi's dirty blonde hair.

"Y-Yeah, so cheer up New York!" Canada smiled shyly and hugged Kumajirou to his chest. Haven fluttered up and sat herself on Cassi's lap, looking up at her. The New Yorker flicked California's quail on the head with a shy smile. America himself dropped a small wreath of red, white and blue flowers onto New York's head, grinning like only he could.

Cassi looked around at Juniper (California), Matthew (Canada), Bobbi (Pennsylvania), and Alfred (America) with tears in her big green eyes. "Y-You guys..."

"You git," Everyone there looked up at England sitting calmly on the ledge in front of them. "Don't be sad. They'll get rebuilt, and stronger and better than before." Arthur rolled his eyes and smiled lightly.

"Everyone! Lets group hug Arthur!"  England glared at America before running off into the park, everyone running after him.

Don't worry, they managed to involve him in a group hug when France tripped him.
:giggle: That was sooo much fun to write. It was originally gonna be COMPLETE angst, but mah mind had other ideas, che. :giggle:

I don't own: the actual state of California, America, Pennsylvania, England, Canada (who?) or France~!

But I do own: Juniper, Haven the quail, and I guess Bobbi. :la: OH AND CASSI. :la::la:
